Description of the
Workspace Forums
The main workspace page is shown below.

Three discussion forums are listed. The second forum is the one we will be using for the continuation editing meeting itself. The first forum is provided for other WG2 business not directly related to the editing meeting. The third forum is for obtaining help with any problems.
Help is available online via the Forum Help documentation accessible from the menu at the top of each page. If you cannot find what you need there, for technical problems send an email to helpdesk@scc.ca (open 9:00 –17:00 EST). For questions relating to the use of the workspace for the meeting, post your question in the Help Desk discussion forum, or email Ray Gates at ray.gates@manulife.com.
There is a "logout" command near the top right of the screen, or you can simply close your browser. Your entries are going to be safe either way.
Select the "FCD 11179-3 Continuation Editing Meeting", either by clicking the link, or by selecting it from the Discussions tab.

Several folders have been created within the discussion area. Feedback on this organization is welcomed. The purpose of each is described below. To go to a particular folder, click on the link.

The editor will use this folder to move the meeting along and to draw attention to specific agenda topics.
This folder will be the official record of attendees at the meeting. Each participant is asked to create an entry here. Select "Add Discussion Topic".

This will bring up a form similar to that shown below (which has been simplified for this guide). Please enter in the Title your country name, a dash, and then your full name. In the Description, enter your role at the meeting. Suggested roles are: Delegate, HoD, Observer, Editor, WG2 Convener. For example:

Click "OK" when ready.
The editor will post here individually the ballot comments that require additional discussion. Participants should post proposals and comments as responses to the individual ballot comment entries. For ease of reading, the consolidated comments documents are also posted in the Documents folder (see section 4.4).

The ballot comments will be organized by their status, into the various folders
shown:
1. Comments for which proposals are required
2. Comments with proposals not yet resolved
3. Comments resolved but not yet implemented by the editor
4. Comments resolved and implemented in the latest draft FDIS
5. Comments resolved with no action for the FDIS
6. Comments deferred to a future version of the standard.
The editor will post here documents for the meeting, or links to them on the FTP site at NIST. The following is a list of the documents at the time this document was created.

Contains general information on the use of the SiteScape forum.
As the draft FDIS evolves through the resolution of the ballot comments, this may generate further comments. This folder provides a place to record these new comments by the clause number used in the particular draft.
Because clause numbers may change from one draft to the next, a new sub-folder will be created for each revision of the draft.
Use this folder to post any general questions you may have.
From the menu, select "Tools – Display Options"

The following screen will be displayed.

The options are as follows:
1. Number of entries to be listed per page. Options are 10, 25, 50, 100.
2. Show replies. Controls whether and which replies to each entry to show in a list of entries. Choices are: All, unseen only, or None. Replies can always be seen by opening an entry.
3. Show contents. Controls whether or not to show the content of each entry in a list of entries.
4. Frames or no frames. There seems to be a problem with the Frames version at present (images not displaying), so the No Frames version is recommended.
When you have a list of entries displayed within a folder, you can sort the folder on any of: Title, Author or Activity Date. Click the heading once to sort in Ascending order. Click again to sort in Descending order.
You can find out what is new by using the "List Unseen" command on the menu.
The Forum has a facility to broadcast email notifications of
new entries. This facility has been
turned OFF for this meeting, because we expect to have fairly high activity for
a relatively short period of time. We
might want to turn the facility on once the meeting is over if we decide to use
the forum for on-going WG2 discussions between meetings.
You may include attachments in any of your entries. This is useful when your text has been done in a Word file or other editor, and do not wish to re-type it (particularly keeping the format). There is an “Add Attachment” button below the text box in the entry (you may need to scroll down to see it) should you have any attachments. You can also include URLs to provide links to documents residing elsewhere, such as the NIST FTP server, or the SC32 site. When adding attachments, be patient as the system may take a while to display its response page. Clicking "OK" a second time will add the attachment twice.
The forum provides chat and instant messaging facilities. These will not be used as a formal part of the editing meeting, because we are distributed by across many time zones, and even within time zones our availability will vary. However, participants are welcome to try out these facilities.
The Web Files feature is not enabled.
